University of Liverpool take advantage of one-to-one training sessions
The University of Liverpool joined IN-PART’s matchmaking platform, Connect, in 2017. Over this time they have introduced numerous staff members to IN-PART, making use of their Account Manager, Kiran to help train new members of staff to use the platform. We recently spoke with Karen Sullivan, who worked at the University of Liverpool for a short-term cover in the IP Commercialisation Team, about her experience working with Kiran and learning how to use the platform:
The Connect platform has a range of features, from real-time data and metrics and areas to upload innovations. To ensure that universities are able to get the most from their subscription, the IN-PART Universities Team offer training sessions to new users from universities with current or new subscriptions. In these introductory sessions, the Account Managers introduce IN-PART and review the platform. The sessions help TTO’s to determine the best way to work integrate IN-PART with their existing processes and work with their Account Manager and enable them to use the IN-PART team as an extension of their office.
As a first-time user of IN-PART, I really appreciated the personal touch of a 1:1 training session to ensure that I could not only navigate the platform but that I would get the most out of it – so much more useful than a generic webinar. I have found this engagement with IN-PART to feel more like a team effort than a bare online platform thanks to the sterling efforts of our Account Manager.”
In addition to learning more about Connect, introductory sessions also include more information about the other IN-PART products, including Discover, a market-pull approach to technology transfer. Karen took advantage of the data that Discover provides about industry R&D trends.
I also found the [Discover] campaigns useful as an indicator of industry priorities in open innovation, even when the opportunity was not directly applicable to our portfolio.”
